The Challenge
Daily commuting can be a frustrating experience, particularly when long wait times and traffic congestion are involved. Unfortunately, many passengers opt to drive their vehicles rather than utilize public transportation, resulting in increased pollution levels from noise, carbon emissions, and Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs). Furthermore, the rise in petrol prices has led to a reduction in petrol production, exacerbating the problem.
Features Intended To Be Embedded In-App By Ropstam:
The Solution
Transit Rewards aims to encourage drivers to choose public transportation over private vehicles, promoting a cleaner environment. The app operates on a user-friendly system that enables transporters to log their commute hours and earn transit reward points. These points can be redeemed later for rewards, incentivizing individuals to adopt more eco-friendly commuting habits.
Discovery
The main objective of developing the Transit Rewards app is to assist commuters in logging their daily trips via public transportation and earning rewards for making eco-friendly choices. The app serves as a platform for users to accumulate reward points from various sources, such as service owners, transport agencies, and owner/transport agency partners, as an incentive to continue utilizing public transport over personal commutes.
Ropstam followed a comprehensive roadmap for the development of the web application, which included implementing the drafted design, website development, thorough testing, and successful launching of the app.

Launching
Ropstam follows a collaborative, transparent, and thoughtful development strategy:
Designing & Wireframing
Wireframes play a crucial role in the app development process by serving as a blueprint and providing guidance. In the case of Transit Rewards, Adobe XD and Figma were utilized as the UI/UX tools to create the app’s design and move forward with the composition process.
Development
The development and composition of Transit Rewards utilized the latest, trending tech stack, which included a Frontend Framework for all portals, Bootstrap 5.0, ReactJS for the database, MongoDB for an email with Gmail SMTP, and VueXY and ReactJS for the admin theme. Bitrise was used for hosting the application.
Testing and Deployment
Upon completing the Transit Rewards app, the next step was to test its functionality and performance using the latest tools and technologies.
The app underwent separate testing for both iOS and Android operating systems. In addition to thorough manual testing, performance analysis was conducted using the Appium testing tool.
Results
Transit Rewards is a mobile app that promotes the use of public transport by offering rewards to commuters. Available on iOS and Android, users can log their daily commute hours and redeem rewards from various service providers and transport agencies. By encouraging the use of public transport, Transit Rewards helps reduce traffic congestion, noise pollution, and carbon emissions.
