As artificial intelligence continues permeating all aspects of technology, Apple is gearing up to introduce more AI capabilities across its product ecosystem. According to a recent report, the Cupertino-based tech giant is prepping to unveil its new AI coding assistant tool, designed to support developers by automatically completing lines and blocks of code on the Xcode platform.
Dubbed “Apple Code Whisperer” internally, the AI pair programmer tool aims to match functionality offered by Microsoft’s Copilot and IntelliCode. It analyzes context and developer intent to suggest whole code snippets in real time. Code Whisperer will likely make an appearance later this year as part of Apple’s suite of developing tools.
But Apple’s AI integration plans extend far beyond programmer productivity. The company is exploring AI music curation for Apple Music, allowing algorithmic playlists tailored to listener preferences. It is also looking into AI-powered presentation creation on Keynote and Numbers, helping professionals build impressive pitch decks.
Another noteworthy aspect is a major upgrade to Apple Spotlight Search, which will reportedly get more app-specific customization for deeper system controls. Going beyond mere information retrieval, the new Spotlight aims to make iPadOS and macOS interaction frictionless.
Though Apple provides its developer toolkit Xcode free of charge, it still charges developers a $99 yearly fee for hosting apps on the App Store and Mac App Store platforms. Nonetheless, Code Whisper promises to augment programmer potential and accelerate app release cycles.
